NEW ORLEANS

I’m not here to pretend like I understand anything about New Orleans from my very limited lens as a visitor, but I do know there’s nowhere else like it.

My first ever trip was shortly after I turned 21. This was also around the time when American Horror Story Coven dropped, so the “let’s all wear black” vibe was unmatched and very Tumblr of us. Even with that in mind, I still love these photos so much and credit New Orleans with snapping me out of my post-art school funk where I hated everything I created for a couple of years. This was a great save.

Everything you look at in this city is inspiring. The architecture and attention to detail is straight up absurd, the artists set up in Jackson Square are some of the most talented people I’ve ever met, and the “For Sale” real estate signs specify if the property is haunted or not. Even discarded Mardi Gras beads sitting in a puddle of street water next to an empty Hand Grenade cup is oddly poetic in a place like this.

My other favorite thing about New Orleans is of course the cemeteries. These are famous for a reason, as they are straight up unable to traditionally bury bodies in a city that already sits under sea level. Never has there been a cemetery with so much life to it as the ones in New Orleans.

A thing that hits me right in the feels in any southern city are the oaks with Spanish moss. Like, we as humans do not deserve trees this beautiful.

Who allowed this city to be so stunning? Not I!
