ANTELOPE CANYON + SEDONA

I’m trying to be a better person and write about the places I’ve been…however the last year has been a prolonged struggle. So anwyway, last May I made my return to Arizona.

Antelope Canyon had been on my list for YEARS. Like, so many years. Initially I had planned to visit with friends in 2020, but due to a minor, super chill pandemic that kinda flipped our lives upside down that never happened. So finally, three years later we made the trip.

Located outside of Page, AZ. it’s a quick, also super chill eight hour drive from LA. Well, give or take, but hey at least it’s pretty at the end.

We booked a tour with Antelope Canyon X, as booked tours are the only way to access the canyons. Although I’m a top tier guided tour hater, this I will recommend endlessly.

Gorgeous, stunning, etc. And while I know there’s a lot more to do in Page, I only had time for one more stop on the drive Sedona. Weird to me how many times I’d been to Arizona and had never seen Horseshoe Bend…? Bizarre!

And now I suddenly NEED to be in a boat at the bottom. It’s at the top of my list of demands.

Sedona is more familiar to me, meaning I can no longer count on one hand the amount of times I’ve been. It’s a good life, I recommend it. With each trip I always have to visit some tried & trues, but like to explore uncharted territory as well. This time that took me to hike Devil’s Bridge.

And while undoubtedly a stunner of a view, know that I cropped out a harrowing line of people waiting for their photo opp on the bridge itself. It’s best to hit the trail early, and even better if you’ve got a Jeep and can brave the offroad conditions to get to the elite parking area. FAR less of a hassle!

And as is tradition, we polished off this hike with an absurdly large meal. I have two favorites in Sedona, depending on which side of town I’m on.

  • Javalina Cantina (small AZ franchise but has never let me down)

  • Red Rock Cafe (strip mall, HomeGoods ass aesthetic but killer menu + giant cinnamon rolls)

In this whirlwind weekend, of course I had to squeeze in a trip to Jerome. I'm obsessed with mining towns, and especially those that own their own history. That said, Jerome is the perfect place to soak in that energy, grab a drink, and take a ghost tour.

On this trip, we had the chance to grab a beer at the Spirit Room before embarking on a ghost tour. Highlights of the Jerome bar culture is the Spirit Room bartender telling some fellow patrons that he wanted his next tattoos to be TOWN SLUT across his knuckles. Legend shit.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - will someone fund me to drive around forever? Thanks!

Bonus shots - stopped in Palm Springs for a supercharger, got a vibe.
