PIONEERTOWN

Pioneertown has a special grip on me. And while it’s not a legit ghost town, the historical value of it being a lil movie set town keeps it in line with meaning something. At least to me, anyway

Over the years I’ve made a few memorable treks, and somehow for a town this small I never get tired of it. Like, how do you get tired of kitschy photo opps, saloon vibes, no cell service, and maybe even getting a coyote sighting? I’ll give u a hint, u don’t.

Hands down my favorite place in Pioneertown or the greater California desert in general is Pappy & Harriet’s. This place is an absolute icon and I feel lucky to have even been inside. And while I’ve never experienced a live show there, I have witnessed a man in a zebra print fedora having a beer and he became my instant idol.

Pioneertown Motel always invades my personal space with IG ads, which to be fair I am the exact target audience. It’s just they failed to consider I am Extremely Bitter and also Very Broke and I would live in their motel if I could. One day…

On my most recent trip out here, I stayed with a group in nearby Yucca Valley which also was a total dream. The vibes? Fucking immaculate.

Yes, you’re looking at a baby book from the 1940s we found in our Airbnb that I read out loud from and potentially summoned a dark force. Idk tho…
