LAKE ARROWHEAD

After a rough start to 2024, I made my first weekend getaway out of LA to Lake Arrowhead. This was uncharted territory for me, which I had been badly overdue for.

What started as a day trip to hike the Heart Rock Falls quickly turned into an overnight excursion in a cabin Airbnb with all the snacks and impulsive stop ins we could find.

The Airbnb itself was the perfect escape. Every detail was perfectly curated, something literally made for people from LA to feel at ease in the wilderness. The best cutesy detail of all was the firewood to make legit roasted marshmallows, something I hadn’t done in years but always heals my inner child all the way through to her core.

After a night in, fixing all of the problems I didn’t even know that I had, before heading back to LA we made sure to immerse ourselves in a few more local businesses. Below I can recommend if you’ll be so kind to let me.

Cedar Glen Malt Shop - Excellent vintage stop for milkshakes, burgers, and hand cut fries you don’t encounter nearly enough these days. Plus I’m always thrilled when there’s a midly offputting bathroom and an option to put peanut butter on a burger.

Mountain Coffee Co - I can’t stand by this one, to be honest but I think they have potential to be better. Coffee was kiiinda watered down and seasonal flavors were baffling.

Lake Arrowhead Brewing - Though I didn’t take photos, I appreciated the vibes being right on the lake.

Hortencia’s at the Cliffhanger - The first photo on this post, you will literally be eating hanging off of the mountain ridge above San Bernadino. And even odder, you will likely be eating a Mexican combo plate and loving it.
